Caravan Holiday a Win-Win, Budget Overseas Holiday a Loose-Loose

As the climate turns warmer, my ideas turn to a Summer time break.  I normally e-book a cheap flight and resort in Europe at the moment of year and I can actually say that caravan holidays or travelling by campervan is looking extra appealing to me.

Simply after Easter when the Spring and Summer season holiday season kicks off,  the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjallajoekull (pronounced eye-yaff-yalla-yok-ell) erupted spewing advantageous gritty ash into the atmosphere which quite than conveniently drifting over the Atlantic Ocean instead headed in direction of UK airspace and inside days had caused the closure of all airports here and Western Europe, marooning travelers for over per week!
Watching the debacle unfold with folks stranded of their more and more costly accommodations or consigned to ready it out in airport lounges I felt mightily relieved that I hadn’t booked my summer time vacation yet.   With the prospect of extra eruptions from the volcano and the usual summer time strikes by French air traffic management and BA workers, I’m starting to suppose that Dorothy had the right thought when she stated “there’s no place like home”.  Now I don’t mean that I’m going to put a sunlounger in my lounge in front of the flat display screen and laze for a week, however perhaps take a caravan holiday within the Lake District or drive alongside the open road via the South Downs and onto Somerset and Devon.

I’m an OK driver, no factors on the license and rarely break the pace restrict, but I’d suppose twice about towing over a ton of weight on a motorway or down a winding country road.  I’d a lot fairly have a caravan vacation in a static site which has all of the mod cons within the caravan, equivalent to TV, kitchen and a comfy bed and use the positioning amenities reminiscent of showers, laundry and ice machines.  Just think about your self this summer season; a lazy drive to some National Trust properties or going to a farmers market in a small market city and then once you get back to your caravan you can arrange the barbecue, chill out in your deckchair with a cold drink and watch the world drift by.

It’s a no-brainer isn’t it?  No strikes, no airport closures and you get to see the panorama that makes Britain great.
