Queensland summers are hot and humid. The winters are more agreeable and may be the best time to visit. The southern winter months to visit are typically May to October.
The Great Barrier Reef is definately Queenslands best known attraction. There is a diverse aquatic life on the reef with over 2,000 species of fish and 500 types of coral polyps not to mention the seabird colonies as well. The spectacular colours of the fish and coral make The Great Barrier Reef a must do for divers from all over the world.
One of the best ways to access the reef is from either the cities of Cairns and Townsville. There are also many island resorts. Some of the islands of the reef are Daydream Island, Fitzroy Island, Lady Elliott Island, Lizard Island and Magnetic Island.
