The Mexican Riviera

Mexico stretches over 1000 square miles of coast along the pacific coast , stretching all the way from Guatemala up to the northwestern Border near California. The majority of the Coast was largely small fishing villages until about 1925, because a newly-built road had brought many tourists. Many Fancy hotels popped up in Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco, and both became very famous in the 60’s when Richard Burton and Liz Taylor made a movie called Night of the Iguana and spend money on a villa by the nice part of town.

The Government of Mexico pushed (quite heavily), the promotion of building resorts and hotels around the middle of the seventies . They dubbed the area of land between Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta ‘Costa de Oro’ meaning ‘Gold Coast’ . The full stretch, which is known as the Mexican Riviera (To the Cruise Industry in the USA) is popular for it’s stunning scenery of jungle flora, gold beaches and stunning cliff faces

Mexican Riviera Cruises are one of the #1 cruises in Mexico, people come from all over the place to see the beautiful scenery in Mexico. The American Cruise industry is forever in debt to the Mexican Riviera. The Tourist Friendly and amazingly scenic small towns along the Riviera were the main backdrop for the old show that everyone used to love “THE LOVE BOAT”.
